Chip Design Systems (CDS), a leader in advanced
projection technologies, proudly announces the successful patenting of a
revolutionary LED driver circuitry for infrared scene projectors, a significant stride in
the field of hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulation and testing.
This patented technology, titled “LED Driver Circuitry for an Infrared Scene Projector
System,” filed on May 31, 2022, represents a monumental leap in scene projection
capabilities. It comprises a unique configuration of current supply level circuits,
each designed to control varied electric currents through a light emitting diode.
(LED). This enables precise manipulation of scene temperatures in infrared imagery,
crucial for testing and validating advanced sensor systems in military and
aerospace applications.
CDS’s novel circuitry addresses the limitations of conventional infrared scene
projectors, such as high power consumption and inability to accurately display high-
temperature objects. By utilizing photonically-emitting micro LEDs, our system can
project scenes with unmatched fidelity and temperature accuracy. This technology
ensures that each LED in the array can more accurately project the apparent
temperature of very hot objects, crucial for realistic and effective simulation
environments.
The patent outlines a sophisticated circuit design that includes a global enable
transistor for progressive control of the LED, and multiple current supply level
circuits with integrated transistors. This system not only enhances the accuracy of
thermal imagery but also significantly reduces the power consumption and heat
generation compared to traditional methods.
“Our newly patented technology is a game-changer in the realm of infrared scene
projection,” said Fouad Kiamilev, CTO of Chip Design Systems. “It elevates our
capability to create highly accurate, power-efficient, and cost-effective solutions for
a wide range of applications, particularly in defense and aerospace sectors.”
The awarding of this patent is a testament to CDS’s commitment to innovation and
excellence in the field of sensor system development. It not only solidifies CDS’s
position as a frontrunner in advanced scene projection technology but also marks a
new era of possibilities in hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
